Babra Day remembered
[13.Aug.2009 - 14:33]Thursday, 13 August 2009 Peshawra: (KW News) Central President of the Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that sacrifices of Babara martyrdom would be remembered, as they were martyred for a great cause. In a statement on the anniversary of Babara incident, Asfandyar Khan said that the ANP activists were ready to render more sacrifices for that noble cause for which hundreds of innocent people had been killed. He further said that the ANP was heir to martyrs of Babara adding that they would scarify for peace and democracy. The Party Chief said that they had tolerated hardships and difficulties and faced numerous challenges from the day of anjuman-i-Islahi Al-Afghana till the ANP. Asfandyar Wali Khan said that the ANP is renowned for its pricipled stands on different issues and struggled for due rights of the people and real democracy. He said party workers had rendered sacrifices in the past and would do so in future adding that it could be judged in the on going war against terrorism that hundred of ANP workers had been martyred so far. He asked party workers to get united and be ready for sacrifices as pakhtuns have been facing hardships since a long period. Meanwhile, Party leader and Provincial Minister for information Mian Iftikhar Hussain while remembering the Babarra tragedy said that every coming generation in each era would condemn this act in which more than 600 Pakhtuns were martyred. In a statement issued here on eve of the Babarra Martyred Day, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said the history was evident that Pakhtoons had always carried out peaceful struggle for their rights and holding of the peaceful agitation rally at that time was part of it which was led by Great Khudai Khidmatgar, Speen Malang. He added that rulers not only torched the houses of Khudai Khidmatgars but also confiscated their properties and auctioned it. The Minister continued that the aim of the rally was not the toppling government of that time but simply demanding for release of their beloved leader Baacha Khan who was imprisoned for joy of their alien masters. Mian Iftikhar maintained, now Pakhtoons are passing through very crucial stage and they should prepare for achieving their rights and restoration of peace. Referring to the present situation in Malakand Division, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that with the grace of Allah Almighty we are successful and peace has been restored there. -De pakhtano Qami Sangar-- Pashtoonkhwa Correspondent
