Flood-affectees seek immediate assistance from the govt: Adv Qayum
ZHOB: ´´The district has witnessed its history´s worst torrential rains and the subsequent floods played havoc with almost all the areas of the district Zhob. But, the govt had not announced financial assistance so far. We need immediate assistance for flood affectees´´. These views were expressed by Secretary General Pakhtunknkhwa Milli Awami Party (Pk-MAP) Abdul Qayum advocate in a press conference, here at Pk-MAP office. He said “Several villages in Zhob including Killi Sheikhan, Ibrahiman, Garda, Shahabzai, Ali Khanzai, Maryama, Mir Ali Khail, Sur Kachh, Malawar, Wiyala, Branj, Takarai, Khwazhikzai, Badinzai and Murgha Kibzai have been inundated with flash floods and torrential rains. Due to the rains scores of houses are collapsed and also damaged crops and washed away animals. Several villages are cut off from the rest of the district as rains swept away Takarai Bridge, which was made of sub-slandered material´´. He added. Abdul Qayum advocate further said ´´Zhob-Dera Isamail Khan Highway has been blocked for the last seven days, due to landslide in Dhana Sar area. Thousands of people of Airport and Islamyaar Muhallah are in danger as violent flash flood has damaged the protection spur, which was constructed several years ago in order to divert the violent flood water of Silyazai torrent from populated areas. The people of the area demand of the government immediate construction of protection spur near Zhob airport´´. He said ´´People of the area mostly depend upon livestock and agriculture, but the flood water swept their animals and agricultural land. Chief Minister had asked to visit the area, declare it flood-hit area and help the people in their hour of trial´´. He demanded. - Rafiullah Mandokhail
