[23.May.2006 - 19:08]
Note: The same speech was given in Dubai Yesterday Central leader ANP Afzal Khan Lala has stressed upon poets and writers to create awareness among Pashtuns for national unity. A remarkable change is inevitable in the region for which Pashtuns should get themselves prepared before hand. Mother tongue he emphasized is a great identity marker. While speaking as chief guest at a literary reference in honour of Dr Kabir Storay and Qamar Zaman Taizi at Peshawar Press Club here on Sunday he said that Pashtuns had ruled for hundred years but their language had never been in the domain of power. It was only Pashtun poets and writers who have upheld Pashtun culture and language. Presenting tribute to Dr Kabir Storay Afazal Khan said that many parallels could be drawn between German and Pashtuns. Germany was also divided into four different parts so were Pashtuns by the Britishers through a well planned conspiracy. However, he said German nation could reintegrated themselves into one national unity just with 45 years but Pashtuns he added could not unite themselves as nation despite elapse of more than a hundred years. Afzal Khan said unless language is patronized and properly owned and given official status, the question of Pashtun national unification would remain unanswered. He however, did not touch upon the modalities of the big change in the Pashtun region but asked the Pashtuns to forge unity among their ranks. He said that both Qamar Zaman Taizi and Dr Kabir Storay had contributed much to Pashto language and Pashtun cause. “Dr Kabir Storay was not only a renowned Pashto poet but also a great and honest political visionary. He strongly believed in the national integration of Pashtuns. Arshad Khan Member Provincial Assembly (MPA, Dr Sher Zaman Taizi, Laiqzada Laiq, Mian Farooq Firaq, Prof Asif Sameem , Mubariz Sapi a German based Afghan scholar and Prof Jehanzeb Niaz also spoke on the occasion. The literary reference was jointly arranged by Ghani Khan literary, cultural and research organization and World Pashto congress.
