Hoti´s Blank Cheque for Quake Victims

Tuesday, 04 November 2008: Quetta: (CM Secretariat) Chief Minister Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti Monday met with the Balolchistan Chief Minister Muhammad Aslam Raisani and sympathized with the people of Balochistan and the government over the human and property losses caused by a strong earthquake in the past week.
Ameer Haider Hoti assured full support towards rehabilitation and relief to the people of Balochistan on behalf of the people and government of Pakhunkhwa, saying they were fully shared the grief of their Baloch brethren at this time of trail. Chief Minister on this occasion was briefed about the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities in the affected areas of Balochistan province. Mr. Hoti expressed his deep shock and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and damages to the properties of the people in aftermath of the massive earthquake which also left thousands of people displaced. He said that the people and the government of Pakhtunkhwa province would provide every possible assistance to the people and government of Balochistan for mitigating the sufferings of the affected people. Later, speaking during a joint press conference with the Balochistan chief minister, Ameer Haider Hoti appealed to the donor agencies to come forward and help the affected people of Balochistan province through extending their support to the provincial and the federal government for the rehabilitation and rebuilding of the affected areas. Hoti said that the experts of PERRA – a provincial level disaster management authority in Pakhtunkwa - would visit the affected areas of Balochistan province within two or three days where they would launch their relief activities. He said that the government and the people of Pakhtunkhwa had already dispatched relief goods for the people of Balochistan on the second day of the earthquake and a second batch of relief goods would soon be reaching from Pakhtunkhwa to the affected areas of the Balochistan. The Chief Minister said that the people of Balochistan should not consider themselves alone as the whole nation was with them at this time of trouble. He said that his government would always be ready for all possible cooperation and also appreciated the efforts of the Balochistan government, relief and rescue workers and welfare organizations who reached the remote parts of the province for their sacred job of assisting the affected people despite the chill. He expressed the hope that the rehabilitation and rebuilding processes of the affected areas in Balochistan would be completed with the same spirit and zeal. To a question, the Chief Minister said that provincial autonomy would enable the Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces to stand on their own feet. The Chief Minister of Balochistan Muhammad Aslam Raissani thanked the people of Pakhtunkhawa province and the CM Hoti for generously contributing towards the rehabilitation of the earthquake affected people of Balochistan province. He said they were very encouraged with the visit of the CM Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and his support for the people of Balochistan on behalf of the people and the government of Pakhtunkhwa province. He said it was encouraging that the people of the three provinces were standing behind the people of Balochistan at this time of trouble, which further strengthened their efforts for the rehabilitation of the affected people. He also voiced support to the demand of provincial autonomy, saying the move would allow the provinces to utilize their resources on the wellbeing of their masses. Provincial president of the Awami National Party Afrasiab Khattak, ANP central secretary information Zahid Khan, ANP provincial chief of Balochistan chapter Commander Khudai Dad Khan, provincial ministers of the Balochistan include Maulana Abdul Wasi, Engineer Zamaruk Khan, Mir Asim Kurdgilo, Sardar Sanaullah Zahri, Mohammad Rahim Mingal, Abdur Rehman Mingal, Mohammad Younis Mulazai, Bachistan chief secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa and other officials were also present on the occasion. Later, the Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti visited Bolan Medical College where he inquired after the health of those injured during the massive earthquake in Balochistan province. The chief minister sympathized with the injured people and prayed for their early recovery. He also prayed for those who lost their lives in the natural disaster. Ameer Haider Hoti hoped that the government of Balochistan would spare no effort in rehabilitation of the affected people with the support of other provinces. He was accompanied by the Balochistan chief minister Muhammad Aslam Raissani, ANP leader Afrasiab Khattak, Zahid Khan, Maulana Abdul Wasi, Zamaruk Khan and others on the occasion. - ANP
