KW News PESHAWAR: President of ANP and Chairman NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Asfandyar Wali Khan emphatically declared on Thursday that the provincial government of Pakhtunkhwa and the Awami National Party stood by the Swat peace pact, which was followed by the endorsement of the Nizam-e-Adl Regulations 2009 by the President of Pakistan, adding that people had mandated the ANP for the establishment of lasting peace. Addressing a gathering of displaced people at Chota Lahore Relief Camp near Sawabi Interchange on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, the party chief recalled that despite the endorsement of the NAR by the President Zardari, the pro-Taliban militants continued with their activities and entered the Buner district in total violation of the peace deal. The situation would soon return to normalcy in the province and the displaced people would soon return to their homes with honour and dignity, he assured. He made it clear that even today, the ANP government stood by the peace arrangement made with the TNSM for the Malakand Division. Asfandyar Wali Khan denounced the propaganda campaign against him by certain quarters that he had fled the country and shifted to Malaysia. " I had gone to Malaysia for collecting donations for the IDPs as a large number of Swatis and Buneris reside in Malaysia. I will be with my people till my death and I am not the one who will flee the country", he said. Establishment of peace in the Malakand Division is the top priority of the present provincial government, he said, adding that the ANP had obtained heavy mandate of the people in the February 2008 polls with the sole objective of maintaining peace and harmony in the province. Regarding the operation in South Waziristan, Asfandyar Wali Khan said it was not on the cards at the moment. The government would not leave the IDPs in this difficult time, he said, adding that every affected family would get Rs 25,000 cash as compensation. Similarly, orphan students in the IDP camps would be shifted to government schools to save their precious time. He also ordered the concerned quarters to ensure setting up of filtration plants, provision of fans, electricity and other necessities of life in the relief camps. Asfandyar also announced increasing the number of volunteers from 20 to 30 in the camp and their daily allowance from Rs 200 to Rs 300. " The ANP would continue to fight for the survival of Pukhtoons,” he said and assured the victims that the Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal would ensure provision of basic necessities of life at the camps. - د پښتونخوا خبریال
