Buner chapter of ANP meets at Baacha Khan Markaz

[09.Jun.2009 - 17:16]
The Buner chapter of the Awami National Party has dispelled the impression being created by certain quarters that large-scale civilian casualties and serious harm to public and private property has been reported in the district in the ongoing military operation. Some quarters have recently claimed that a huge collateral damage occurred in the district as a result of the military operation. However, elected representatives from Buner and members of ANP said the civilian population did not suffer huge losses as claimed by some quarters. They said the party representatives recently conducted a survey in the district and it was found that the operation was targeted and precise which resulted in less damage to non-combatants. The revelation came during a meeting of the party office-bearers and legislators from the troubled district at the party’s central headquarters of Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar on last Friday. Expressing satisfaction over the progress of the swoop, the representatives and office-bearers of the ANP demanded of the security forces to achieve the targets in the shortest possible period and clear the area of terrorists so as the uprooted families return home. The participants were of the opinion that the displaced people of Buner wanted to go back as early as possible. Lauding the support extended by the people of Swabi and Mardan for the displaced families, the meeting said they had set an example of sacrifice for their brethren. The meeting also reposed confidence in the party’s central leadership and provincial government. The participants demanded of provincial government to simplify the process of financial aid to the affected people. The meeting was presided over by ANP Provincial Vice-President Muhammad Karim Babak and attended by Minister for Education Sardar Hussain Babak, MNA from Buner Istqibal Khan, MPAs from the district Qaiser Wali Khan and Said Rahim advocate. The party provincial spokesman, Arbab Tahir, District Nazim of Buner Rauf Khan,Shams Buneri, Mian Said Laiaq and a large number of party members also attended the meeting.
