“ I was implicated in a fake case to prevent me from voicing supporter for democracy and freedom of expression, “ Mr Afridi remarked in his first ever address to journalists in Peshawar on Wednesday.
On arrival at Peshawar Press Club, he got warm welcome and was not able to control his emotions, when informed that the club’s conference hall had been named after late photographer Zubair Mir, he went for a salute to the name of Zubair Mir, who made a tremendous contribution to The Frontier Post as its photographer.

He said that during interrogation and trial process, he was offered attractive office and perks just for becoming approver against late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari. “Even President Musharraf through messengers offered me job of secretary information but I remained firm not only in friendship with Asif Ali Zardari but also with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his associates,” he added. He also narrated different phases of the conspiracies aimed at his arrest in false and fabricated case of narcotics. In this respect, he said the case must be reopened for exposing the real drugs traffickers. He suggested open trail in the case.
