The voice of Khyber

By Shaheen Buneree As a regular visitor of Khyberwatch I found it one of the most representative websites of Pashtuns´ socio-cultural, economic and political aspirations. It provided a platform to the educated Pashtuns across the world to come together and share their feelings, thoughts and experiences. It really represents Pashtun sensibilities. I am sure that it is a serious effort towards the social and intellectual revival of the Pashtuns. Unfortunately we lack standard education and research institutes; we also don´t have independent and representative media organizations of our own. In such a situation when all the big powers of the world are focusing on our region for the fulfillment of their political and economic interests we badly need websites, research institutes and media organizations of our own. Modern world is the world of information technology. The world has become a globalized village. We need to be heard by the world. We as a Pashtuns are penalized for the sins that we have not committed. We are civilized and peace loving but still we are dubbed as extremist and terrorists for some vested interests. This is time for us to present our case to the world with reasons and logical conclusions. World should come to know us in the true sense of the word. We have our glorious values, traditions, culture, a very beautiful land, snow-capped mountains and gushing rivers where only peace and love can blossom. And for this the world to know we should have come forward and launch websites like Khyber watch, write and print books and launch independent media organizations. We must make our voice to be heard by the civilized world. On the second anniversary of the Khyber watch I extend my heartiest congratulations to Fazli Rahman Zahid and his team for their dedicated efforts and hard work for advocating the case of Pashtuns to the world. Zahid has no doubt performed the duty of a faithful son of the soil very well. May God gives further strength and courage to Khyberwatch team for highlighting Pashtun issues in their true colours.
