Zardari arrives in Kabul to discuss regional peace
[06.Jan.2009 - 13:02]KABUL, Jan 6 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari arrived here Tuesday on his first official visit to Afghanistan, to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss efforts to bring peace in the region. The President was received at the Kabul International Airport by First Vice President Ahamad Zia Massoud. Two children presented him bouquets.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Governor NWFP Owais Ahmad Ghani, Provincial Chief Awami National Party Afrasiyab Khattak and Dr G.G Jamal who are also the jirga members, are part of President’s delegation.
Later, a formal welcome ceremony will be held at the Presidential Palace, where President Karzai will receive the Pakistani leader.
President Zardari and President Karzai will hold one‑on‑one meeting, to be followed by the delegation‑level talks.
Both the leaders will later address a joint press conference.
A joint declaration will be issued at the end of the visit giving direction of the future cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan in several areas. - د پښتونخوا خبریال
