Peshawar: Baacha Khan Trust Education Foundation (BKTEF) Wednesday vowed to impart quality education to two million students hailing from downtrodden and unprivileged areas by the year 2020.
BKTEF has an admission policy according to which only those students who belong to the downtrodden segment of the society will be granted admission. BKTEF will provide free uniforms, books, etc and shall charge a subsidized free from the students, said Project Director BKTEF Javed Anwar at a press conference at Peshawar Club Peshawar.
Javed Anwar said that currently BKTEF was running 12 schools in various districts included Kohat, Dir Upper, Swabi, Peshawar, Khyber Agency, Malakand, Hangu, Karrak, Charsadda and Mradan. He said BKTEF had planned to extend the educational programmes to other parts of the province in due course of time.
About future planning, he disclosed that a model school at district level model college in every division and a university in the provincial capital would be established to impart quality education to children of the poor people who could not afford to get their children admitted in the Private schools.
In order to create ownership amongst local communities, the BKTEF had established community Education Committees (CECs) in each locality of its schools, which were actively involved in the school-building process, he said. He added that CECs were providing a strong back up to the schools not only through physical contribution but also through monitory assistance. These committees were actively involved in overseeing the management and administration of the respective schools, he further said.
He said that BKTEF had also established a Professional Development Academy (PDA) where qualified and professional staff had been engaged in designing and imparting basic teachers training to the teaching staff of its schools. PDA was constantly busy in assessing the performance of the teachers and students and doing need analysis for further training modules, he said, adding so far PDA had successfully trained 80 teachers out of a total of 100 teachers of Baacha Khan Schools in the basic pedagogical skills.
´´In continuation of BKTEF´s efforts of providing quality education to the community, we are now opening out first high school exclusively for girls at Nauthia Peshawar.
